MS.MONINA - Multi-scale service for monitoring NATURA 2000 habitats of European Community interest

The project MS.MONINA (Multi-scale service for monitoring NATURA 2000 habitats of European Community interest)aims at developing a standardised monitoring system of the habitat types in European nature reserves that are part of the NATURA 2000 network. Based on the multi-scale concept of MS.MONINA, a transnational service chain for monitoring biodiversity is developed by a consortium of 17 European partners. Remote sensing techniques and new image processing methods are applied to monitor Natura 2000 sites and their environments.

Within the project, eoVision is focuses on

  • preparing geodata for the test region National Park Kalkalpen
  • providing a data interface with the European Space Agency,
  • developing a metadata profile,
  • developing and operating one of the spatial data infrastructure (SDI) nodes planned within the service network.

The project MS.MONINA is funded under the Seventh Framework Programme of the EU and focuses on the protection of endangered wild native plant and animal species and their habitats.
