In addition to the conventional distribution channel via internet, the European Space Agency ESA is operating the satellite based DDS (Data Distribution System), which allows distributing data independent of network infrastructure.
In response to the current challenge imposed by the rapidly increasing volume of satellite data, ESA is developing the DDS-SG (Second Generation). In cooperation with gcs (Global Communication & Services) and Projektkompetenz.eu, eoVision has prepared a study comprising the assessment of requirements of users of Earth observation community.
Within this work, eoVision focused on the development and evaluation of a questionnaire and the assessment of technological background information such as the analysis of planned satellites to be expected with regard to data traffic.
