New Atlas: "Die Welt im Wandel"

eoVision has been contracted by Westermann Verlag to develop an atlas based on satellite images and maps that covers important aspects of global change. Fascinating views and time series give an insight into processes and phenomena on our planet and the related challenges to mankind.

This unique product combines satellite image maps with traditional maps in order to highlight developments and processes on our planet. The themes covered by the atlas range from natural phenomena such as weather, seasons, volcanoes and earthquakes to the large variety of man-made changes such as agricultural influences, growth of cities, and many others. A collection of time-series exemplifies how fast many of these changes are happening – well-known examples are the shrinking of Lake Aral in Kazakhstan and Usbekistan, and the huge impact of the Three Gorges Dam in China.

While the traditional maps have been provided by Westermann Verlag, eoVision was responsible for preparing the atlas concept (in cooperation with Westermann), acquiring and processing all satellite data, completing the layout of the maps and of the pages of the atlas and for delivering the ready-to-print final files.
