Map generation and updates:
Whereever landscapes undergo changes, be it due to natural processes or human impact, existing maps have to be updated. Satellite data are an excellent tool used to identify these changes and to integrate this information into updated maps.
Integration with terrain models:
In addition to classical topographic information, more and more digital terrain information is required in order to combine it with satellite based image maps. The synergistic use of this data is applied in mapping and visualisation solutions.
Object and area classification:
For cartographic purposes thematic maps are in most cases more relevant than pure image maps. The extraction of thematic information from satellite image data is done “remotely” by evaluating the data using state-of-the-art processing methods and combining them with data from other sources.
